Leather Wastewater Treatment Project in Taishan Dasha Environmental Protection Industrial Park

　　Company Introduction:

The Da Sha Environmental Protection Industrial Zone Wastewater Treatment Plant processes wastewater primarily from the leather enterprises within the park. The wastewater is complex, containing high concentrations of chrome tanning agents, high chloride, sulfide, surfactants, chemical additives, oils, and difficult-to-degrade organic matter.

　　Wastewater Type:

The project renovation capacity is 4000t/d. The original water contains a high level of chloride ions, ranging from 4000 to 8000 mg/L. The wastewater has a high salt content, with an average TDS concentration of 4000 – 6000 mg/L and an average electrical conductivity of 8000 – 9000 μs/cm.

　　Shangchen Environmental Services Process:

In response to the characteristics of the wastewater from the treatment plant, Shangchen Environment upgraded the existing process by incorporating its unique OSMMBR high-salt-content wastewater biochemical technology and professional operation. This breakthrough overcame the limitations of high salt concentration, metal, and sulfide toxicity on the activity of biological strains, cultivating a highly efficient and active bacterial population under these conditions, and effectively improving the overall efficiency of the treatment process.

　　Shangchen Environmental Services Achievements:

After the technical transformation, the effluent met the first-level standards of the second period of Guangdong Province’s “Discharge Limits for Water Pollutants” (DB44/26-2001). The Taishan Environmental Monitoring Station periodically samples and supervises the Da Sha Environmental Protection Industrial Zone Wastewater Treatment Plant. The test results are all better than the discharge standards, effectively controlling the project’s impact on the local environment and promoting the sustained, stable, and coordinated development of the local economy and environment.

　　Taishan Hao Yuan Leather Industry Plant Wastewater Treatment Renovation and Operation Project

Hao Yuan Leather Industry (Taishan) Co., Ltd. mainly engages in the production and operation of pig, cattle, and sheep leather, the processing of wet blue leather with new technology, and the processing of various leather finishing technologies with new technology. The plant’s wastewater treatment station has a processing capacity of 800T/D (designed for 2500T/D). After meeting the standards of the Da Sha Wastewater Treatment Plant, it is discharged into the Da Sha Industrial Zone Wastewater Treatment Plant for treatment. Shangchen Environment has technically renovated the original wastewater station, utilizing the Shangchen Environment OSMMBR biochemical technology. After treatment, it meets the “Discharge Standard of Water Pollutants for Tanning and Fur Processing Industry.” The wastewater treatment station is currently operated stably by Shangchen Environment.

　　Taishan Leather Industry Plant Wastewater Treatment Renovation and Operation Project

The Taishan City covers an area of 66,990 square meters, with an annual production capacity of 600,000 pieces of professional cowhide for shoes and packaging leather. The water supply and drainage system is designed according to the principles of “separate clean and polluted water, separate rain and sewage, separate quality treatment, and cyclic water use.” Chrome-containing wastewater and sulfur-containing wastewater are pre-treated separately before mixing with comprehensive wastewater, surface washing water, and domestic sewage to enter the plant’s wastewater treatment station (designed for 2000 tons/day). Part of the tailwater is reused in production after flotation disinfection treatment, and the remaining part is discharged into the Da Sha Industrial Zone Wastewater Treatment Plant in Guanghai Town, Taishan City, for further treatment. The current discharge of production wastewater and domestic sewage is 700T/D, with the remaining 1300T/D reused, achieving a reuse rate of 65%. The project operation is stable.
